Nobody knew that just a day after the official launch of “Iphone 4s”, the founder of “IPhone”, Steve Jobs, would retire from this world.

Iphone 4S launch: Informal farewell to Steve Jobs

This made the launch of IPhone 4S an unofficial farewell to Steve Jobs. And it turned out to be, a bit, disappointing given the fact that, people were expecting a lot from the latest IPhone and, it provided very few new features.

I am not saying that IPhone 4S is bad, or not good. But, one thing is for sure,  it is not revolutionary at all. And that is why, its launch- by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook – seemed a bit underwhelming.

Iphone 4S launch: Less enthusiastic response

This less than enthusiastic response is mainly because people were expecting the launch of Iphone 5 with slimmer body, larger screen and a lot of new features. But they got just a slightly improved Iphone 4, called as Iphone 4S. Plus, this means that we are not going to see the launch of much anticipated Iphone 5, this year.

Moreover, Apple has witnessed a soaring success in the last few years. People normally expect a lot from the launch of an Iphone. And when Apple is launching something after a gap of 16 months, you don’t expect them to come up with just an improvement. You expect a lot of fireworks, which unfortunately didn’t happen.

Though, I also feel that the absence of Steve Jobs made the launch a bit dull. People still need time to get over the magic of Steve Jobs, especially after his death.

IPhone 4S: What I didn’t like

Without any more ado, the following are the main reasons why I didn’t like the new IPhone 4S:

• This latest Iphone 4S still doesn’t support Flash animations, which is the most important feature provided by its competitors.
• There is still no slot for external Memory Card.
• Its screen size is still the same. On the other hand you have Samsung Galaxy S 2, HTC Sensation and Sony Xperia Arc having a screen size of whopping 4.3 inches.
• It looks just the same, which is also one of its advantages. But, for the last 16 months people are using the same phone. Comon man, bring some change.
• Its not 4G compatible. Now, that’s not a big let down.
• There is still a long way to go for IPhone 5. If you were expecting to hold an IPhone 5 in your hand, this year, then you would be very disappointed, unless Apple comes with a real big surprise.

IPhone 4S: What I liked about it?

No matter, how disappointed we are with the launch of IPhone 4S, but it still packs a very solid punch. The following are the improvements that have been made in IPhone 4S:

• Apple has upgraded the processor of IPhone 4S to Dual Core A5 Chip, which is also used by Apple IPad 2. Apple claims that data speed of their new IPhone 4S is double than their previous version, thanks to this powerful processor.
• Apple has come up with a new graphic process, which is claimed to be 7 times better than the previous one. This will enhance your overall gaming experience.
• IPhone 4S has come up with a new technology that allows you to switch between 2 built in antennas. This would help to drastically improve the call quality.
• The only apparent change that you will find in IPhone 4S is its 8MP camera. You can also record 1080p videos with this camera. According to Apple, this camera would provide crisp images and terrific quality, even at low lights.
• There is one more interesting feature in IPhone 4S, and that’s Siri. “Siri”, a personal assistant, is a voice recognition system that is integrated in the IPhone’s operating system.
• With the new IPhone 4S, you can take the advantage of  iCloud service. Users can wirelessly upload all their images, videos, songs and other documents to cloud storage centers. Thus, you can view your documents on all other Apple devices you own. Plus, all the users will get 5GB of free storage space.

I haven’t got my hands on IPhone 4S yet. So, I am not sure about all the above features. But hey, its Apple. We can trust them blindly.

So, does anyone having IPhone 4 need to go for it? Absolutely not, unless you are a die hard Apple Fan.

People always expect a lot from Apple. But, it didn’t live up to their expectations, this time. Plus, I feel they have been a bit late in bringing all these new features.

But still, it is one of the finest smart phones out there, with exceptional built quality. Not to forget, it still looks very sexy. Apple, we still love you. But, next time, please come with the best.
