PARTNERS IN HEALTH
When the person we love falls ill, we make sure to provide him/her the best available medical treatment. We are only concerned about their health, and use all the means at our disposal to make them well. But, there are billions of poor people worldwide, who don’t enjoy this luxury. Their special ones can’t even arrange a single dose of medicine for them, forget about paying for their complete treatment. And, that is where, Partners in Heath (PIH) is so important.
PIH: Providing heath care to the poor
Over the last 25 years, Partners in Health is providing better health care to the poor people in the world.
This organisation has a simple mantra – ” Doing whatever it takes to provide better heath care facilities to the poor worldwide.”
And, this one motto is driving this organisation for the last 25 years. And, it is the same force that has helped them to treat 2.8 million patient in Haiti in 2011 alone. And, this includes providing basic nutrition or air lifting patients from Haiti to Boston for a life saving treatment.
Why Partners in Health?
There are various good organisations providing health facilities to the poor worldwide. I’ll be talking about all those organisations in my further articles (one by one). But, the reason why I have chosen PIH (Partners in Health) today is because of their dedication towards their work.
When initially launched in 1987, PIH was working only in the areas of Haiti. But, in over 25 years, PIH has considerably expanded its areas of working. PIH is working in places like Haiti, Lesotho, Malawi, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Rawanda, USA, and Kazakhstan. And, it is providing health facilities related to issues like HIV/AIDS, Tuberclosis, Cholera, Women’s Health, Child’s Health, Food and Water etc.
PIH Workers had been working for years to address the health care needs of the poor, and needy, people. Their mission is both medical and moral. When poor people around the world falls ill, PIH uses every means at its disposal to make them well.
How to contribute to PIH (Partners in Health) ?
