PPC: How it hampers your website success?

By   /   January 10, 2012  /   No Comments

You can never ensure the long term success of your website, with the help of a PPC (Pay Per Click) campaign. Though, it brings massive free traffic on a website, but once you turn it off – its all black again.

PPC – What is it?

The concept of PPC (Pay Per Click) is very simple. In this method, you place your ads on a website, and it charges you for the number of clicks made on your advertisement. It is a very simple, but very expensive, way to get direct traffic on your website.

No matter if a user actually wanted to view your website or not, his click on your advertisement would cost you money. So, it is good to bring more traffic on your website, but it doesn’t ensure its success at all.

PPC – Not good for long term website success

In order to ensure a bright future of your website, you need to build its popularity online, which you can’t expect through a “PPC” campaign. Unless you spend a huge amount of money (really a huge amount) on PPC, you can’t even ensure continuous traffic on your website, for a long term. And you would still have to rely on:

  • SEO;
  • Social Media Marketing;  and
  • Building your social network

to actually promote your website online. Moreover, you don’t even get effective traffic on your website via PPC. And, this is a fact. Plus, with such a high level of competition online, the rates of PPC is increasing tremendously. PPSo, PPC not just wastes your money, but also your valuable time.

How PPC hampers your Website Success?

A lot of websites, favoring PPC, reasons that PPC is the best source of bringing continuous traffic on your website. And, if used effective, can ensure long term success of your website. As a small webmaster, I strongly disagree to it.

Bringing traffic on your website is not a way to ensure its success online. You need continuous, relevant, effective, and free traffic on your website to ensure its success online, which PPC doesn’t provide unfortunately.

In addition to this, the following are the main reasons why PPC does more harm than good to the future of your website:

1. Irrelevant Traffic:

PPC doesn’t ensure effective visitors on your websites. These days, people have become very clever. They read a website’s review on different social media websites, before actually trying it. On the other hand, they don’t trust sponsored websites as they are very easy to place. All you need is to invest a specific sum of money to palce your website in sponsored listings.

2. No great ROI:

Most of the traffic that you get, from PPC, on your website is ineffective and irrelevant. Though, things are slightly better with Search Engine’s PPC campaign, but it is very expensive for small webmasters.

Moreover, when a user knows that you will be charged for his click, he makes sure to click 5-10 times on your website. Thus, the ROI on your PPC campaign is very minimal.

3. Social Media Marketing:

These days, Social Media Marketing is the easiest, and the fastest, way to promote a website. Moreover, it brings not just free, but relevant and genuine traffic on your website. It allows you to build social relationships with your users online, resulting in effective, and continuous, free traffic on your website. So, when you have such a great way to effectively promote your website, there is no point in going for inexpensive, and ineffective, Pay Per Click Marketing.

4. PPC doesn’t improve your SEO rankings:

No matter, for how long you use PPC for your website, it won’t increase its search engine rankings. You would still have to go for effective SEO, of your website, for improving its SEO rankings.

5. Vicious Circle:

If you are totally dependent on paid traffic, for more traffic, stopping it can disastrously reduce the traffic on your website. Many websites, find it difficult to stop using it, just for getting more traffic. And this results in  more wastage of your time, and money.

6. Not for Small Webmasters:

PPC marketing is becoming very expensive, day by day, especially on Search Engines. Plus, it is loosing its effectiveness and importance. And, that is why, most of the small webmasters hate the idea of wasting their money, and efforts, on Paid Per Click Campaign.

7. Not for long term:

Unless you have a fortune to spend on your website, you can’t keep on using PPC continuously for it. So, instead of wasting so much amount on it, its better to invest it in SEO, and SMO (Social Media Optimization), to not just get continuous free trafficbut to also increase its brand value.

8. Its impractical:

A lot of websites, and articles online, are promoting PPC like a magic wand, which can make you rich in no time. But, that’s not true at all. Its not just very expensive, but doesn’t ensure effective results either. Thus, a lot of small webmasters end up loosing a lot of money, resulting in shutting off their websites.

After all, how can you expect your website to get a lot of success online, when you are paying your visitors for viewing your website? So, you must read the above points before making a decision about it.
